Martin puts on the mens village clothes and conceals the gun in his new shirt. He then goes back outside of the house and looks around to see if anything has changed...

He can hear an extremely loud ripping sound, like paper being torn. It emanates from the blackness below the village.

"What the hell!?" Martin runs back into the house and looks down the black hole to see if anything has changed...

The blackness appears closer than before.

Martin decides to throw another rock down the hole to see if something different happens...

It vanishes into the black like before.

Noticing nothing different Martin goes back out of the house and goes down the alley turning left at the T-intersection...

It leads into a little courtyard with several other paths leading throughout

Martin looks down all of the paths to see what is down each way...

They lead off into various streets, throughout the village.

Martin picks a path at random and goes down it...

It leads to another part of the village, the market. The tearing sound has grown considerably louder, now seeming like it was coming towards him.

Martin walks through the market, looking around to see if he can find anything of interest or where the sound of the tearing is coming from...

The sound seems to come from beneath him below the city. The market is empty and devoid of anything useful.

Martin searches the market for some good quality rope...

The market has only a few small strips, in extremely bad quality. The colour and brightness of everything seems to lessen as the sound increases.

Starting to get worried about the change in colour, Martin runs down another street, yelling out "Hello, can anybody hear me?"...

His voice barely penetrates the sound. It increases in volume.

Martin continues to run down streets, hoping to find someone...

The tearing grows to an intensity that it drives Martin to his knees, instinctively covering his ears as yelling as the sound blasts in his ears.

Martin crawls into the closest house, hoping that the sound will decrease inside a building...

With a great sound that causes Martin's vision to blur and twist, the tearing stops, and the world around him thuds violently once. The tearing noise is gone and sounds are normal again. Some people are talking in the village, and everything seems to be back to normal.

Surprised and confused, Martin slowly gets up and walks back over to the door that he used to get into this house, Martin slowly opens the door, just enough for him to be able to see through onto the street beyond with his gun ready...

People move about with their daily errands. A couple of children are playing with a ball in a little courtyard.

Martin closes the door and searches the house for a scarf or a hat or sunglasses or something else that he can use to conceal his face and anything else of interest that he may find in the house...
