The gunman quickly punches Andrew in the face, knocking his hat off.
"Did that wake you up?"
He laughs to himself and leans back against the wall.

"What the fuck"

Emilia suppresses a laugh.

The gunman turns to Martin.
"I'm glad to see you got your equipment back. Everything at the other base was destroyed."

"we noticed"

"To be honest I didn't know whether you had survived that explosion, let alone the moving ice shelf."

"ow... **** wanker."Andrew grunts. "How long ...?"
"by the way,Naru, I run off caffiene, addiction does that too you."

Emilia rolls her eyes.

The gunman walks over to an emergency phone on the wall and picks it up.
He dials a number and listens intently.
"Yes, we are on the way down now. Not to worry, I will assist them until I reach the rendezvous point. Excellent." He hangs up, and without another word, goes back to leaning against the wall.

"Assist us with what?"

"With dealing with any resistance that is down there. Human, or otherwise." He smiles at the last part.

"You know what's down there, don't you?"

"Well, it's rather difficult to explain. I know what's down there, but you don't, so anything could be down there. Therefore I don't know what's down there. This place operates on a different level than reality sometimes. Perception and expectation is everything."

"Are you trying to say, that each of us will see them in a different way?"

"Not if you stick together. Working as a group counteracts the various...problems...that you might encounter."

"Please, sir, can you tell me these problems?"

He smiles deviously.
"That would ruin all the fun."

"Not if you are planning to send me to my death."

He looks concerned.
"But why, my dear, would I go to all the trouble of helping you if I just wanted to see you dead?"

"Look. I am more trusting of you than the rest of the people here," Emilia says, talking like the team is unable to hear what she is saying, "and I believe you have good intentions, whatever they are. But you were willing to kill them before. Why not now?"

"Times change. A lot has happened since we last encountered each other. My instructions have changed."

"To help us, to a degree...?"

"Something along those lines, yes."

Emilia decides to sit down and go into her meditative state; crossed legs, palms up, closed eyes.

"Is there anything anybody would like me to make?"

"I'm fine for now, thankyou."
He thinks for a moment.
"Or can you make mercury?"
