There point of view?
Say a pom comes over to try and stay, does everything right, fillsout coutnless forms and applications, has to take a test or two, then he is alowd in.
A curry muncher hgas a cry and rocks up on a boat and get alowd straight in.
WTF is that?
What about our own poverty problems? What about Australias point of view?

Both arguments are equally valid with regard to the refugees, but the fact is that they were never our problem, we don't need them and our country has more important things to worry about. We can't just let them in, as mini said, that just wouldn't be fair and then every poor person on this Earth would want to come into Australia, it just wouldn't work out. It is a harsh world we live in with a lot of poverty and starvation, but we can't save everyone. That's why the refugees should be kept out imo. That is the one good thing about the liberals at least. Instead of Australia letting them in, Australia could just help them by providing more international aid out of charity or whatever, but just letting them into our country isn't right...

The difference is that they are coming into our country legally and they have money to support themselves. They are doing the right thing, the immigrants are not. I understand that they are poor and they have nothing, but that doesn't make it alright. If we were to let the immigrants in, the government would need to look after them and pay for them, meaning more welfare would be needed to dish out and since my youth allowance from Centrelink has already been decreased by a lot over the past year, I don't like the sound of that...

Exactly martin, well said.
Wealthy people can come into our country coz they can support themselves and have the potential to add to our economy and help it grow.
Not some curry muncher who bludges off it, and makes it worse off in the end.

An idea for the government - turn the boats away, but provide a way for them to come over in set amounts. Amounts that we could then set up with jobs and a way for them to start off. Council positions, working on the roads, doing the low jobs so that they can work their way up like the rest of us do. rather than getting a free ride. and, if they don't do their job, they have chances, and if it comes to it, they can be sent back because they obviously dont want to contribute to our society.

and on a lighter note:

I haven't heard of this 20 year old politician, that is very young. This person either has some good friends in high places or this person is good at whatever they do. Either way, good for them, it looks like they have their life set.

Does anybody know how one becomes a politician?

Choosing the Greens is fine, because the preference goes to ALP. My electorate (Gilmore) has to stop being retarded and remove the useless Liberal MP that's been in parliament since 1996. Imho, the party I most prefer in government is the Sex Party, but that's obviously never going to happen. Second best would be Labor. I don't want to see Liberal's scare tactics work once again.

BTW anyone who votes for FFP or CDP doesn't deserve to vote. Imo, of course. Very Happy

I am 100% with Pearly. Except that the Sex Party wouldn't be great as the country's government because they don't have an economic policy. Although if they had more power, like the Greens do, that would be awesome.

FFP and CDP parties would prefer that Australia was back in the 50s instead of the 2000s
