After 8 hours and 30 minutes of the game on Hardened, I've beaten it. And it was holy awesome. So intense and brilliant. When you discover that the
Spoiler:

.. wow. It was awesome. So, so awesome.

Not too short. Not too long. Just brilliant. I'd suggest, but, play it on Hardened if you're a real man - Regular will give you half as much play time and give away the story too easily, it won't feel accomplished when you beat it, you won't have earned anything. And no girling out either, when you've replayed a bit a few times. I thought about it once or twice, but when you really think about different tactics and you finally get past it, that feeling of accomplishment, it's amazing. Like crack.

There were no frustrating Hardened moments (eg CoD4 when you're waiting for the Heli as Price in the flashback in Chernobyl) where you repeat it so much you don't want to play; in this one, although frustrating, you never felt like shutting down - you may throw the mouse every now and then but you always stay at it until you get past it, at which point you'll want to keep going.

There are also so so many new weapons, scopes, etc. The whole weapon system is brilliantly done - you'll see what I mean when you play. I never found myself using a shotty but, which is weird, cause I'm usually a shotty guy - exclusively shotguns in L4D.

I have played on one multi server only, but the silly no-dedicated server thingo seemed alright, it found me a good match with low ping. I'm only on lvl4, so I can't comment on the new unlocks yet but.

Discuss?

Not such a smart thing to say seeing as there are probably some female MW2 players better than you Razz

I was talking to a guy on Counter-Strike who was saying about how anticipated this game was. Each EB Games store was only given a certain amount of copies of the game. For the people that pre ordered, it was fine. They only had enough for the people that pre ordered. Everyone else had missed out. Lots of EB stores had to order in 1000s copies.

James has been playing a lot of this game. He is going to tell you himself how awesome it is, but he has it on PS3. It has been rated 9-10/10.

PC however, has been lower at 8-9/10. This is because there are no dedicated servers.

I have played Modern Warfare and I really liked that game. Unfortunately, I can't play MW2 because my computer wont be able to run it properly.

Yeah, im guessing you have it on computer Matt?

After playing through cod4 on ps3, i couldnt not get it again. i also have World at War, but never really got far with that.

Modern Warfare 2 is epically brilliant. I haven't finished online but I just prestiged (get to level 70 and then start again) on Multi-player. The broad range of guns, awesome perks (which are now upgradeable) and customizable kill-streaks.

Haha I'm sure most female gamers are better than me Smile I really do suck at it =p. I originally posted this on my ALeV forum, then just copied and pasted (removing the swear words) it onto here .And yeah, the lack of dedicated servers is annoying. Just a silly decision, it's no harm to then to activate them. However, I've played a few MP games and have only had one lag-spike, but otherwise it's been pretty fault-free. Suprisingly.

Yeah, I have it on PC Smile holy moly, you've prestiged already? 'Nice effort Smile Yeah, the new weapons and perks and levels and just feathures all round are brilliant Smile

WHat about the No Russian mission? Played it? I think it did it maturely and cleverly - obviously, the subject is hard hitting. That's the point. It's not meant to be played for enjoyment; as a hardened gamer, it's probably the most hard hitting thing I've ever seen. It's not like the media have portreyed it 'hell yeah let's go through and kill all these civilians cause it's fun to kill civilians'. It makes you think, and invokes feelings of disgust, pity, and really just smacks you on the head the way that film or books just can't do. It's not there for fun, it's there for the same reason we watch disgusting movies or books about terroris, - it makes you take a step back and go 'holy crap '. For me, I couldn't stop thinking of the people who I was killing, whether they had families, etc. Plus, its story is pivotal to the plot.

I think it is a good thing they included the No Russian mission. People play games killing people who get their life back and you do too. No one is getting hurt. People get a thrill of people dying in a game. Games make it so easy. I guess this mission throws in a bit of reality.

I feel sorta bad. As soon as i saw the others start firing, so did I (damned lack of knowing what was going on). After a while the whole thing gets quite slow and although you can see innocent people get shot, if there was a real war, what exactly do you think the opposition is going to do? We already have terrorists blowing people up that are just having lunch.... or going to work.

People will sooner or later be exposed to scenes like this, weather its a game or IRL.

Please make use of the spoiler function. I haven't convinced Pickles to not get codmw2 out when he really wants to so he doesn't ruin his chrissy present to see the plot spoiled. I probably won't live to play it because of this, but by damn I will play it in heaven.

We haven't really talked about what happens in this mission, just how nasty it is. It is that bad, you can skip the mission entirely before or during play without penalty. I think it is talked about a lot and it is even mentioned on Wikipedia. Any other missions that want to be talked about should be put into a spoiler.

But don't buy it on Steam, for $90 USD and a whopping 12GB download. eBay it, you'll find it for $60 with postage, andthere's no dling.Anyway, yeah, I thought everyone already knew about this mission? In any case, we're not spoling the rest of it, just that you kill civilians and feel disgusting.

2dvd. The final install is 16GB, from memory, but I think that DL is only 12 (only haha) cause they probably compress it.

Geez, that is a lot of data. They are going to have to make bigger discs soon or have a new way of installing games that are that big.

Miniman, I won't even bother describing what horrible things I would do to myself before I even consider going halves with you. After what has happened with COD4, I'll never repeat it - ever!
