My first comment

Martin, you said that Emilia wouldn't be able to make a drink.

She can, by herself. She made glucose in water for the last mission.
She just can't make anything too advanced.

So no pina coladas.

I just realised that she could make ethanol

What's the significance of that Emilia?

Ethanol is highly flammable. It's a petrol type thing. Emilia could spray it everywhere and then we could light it on fire.

I'm not sure why we would want to do that, but there you go.

Hahaha. That would be silly. XD

We could use it to blow up a room, with us not in it. Trail a small amount into the room leading to a heap of flammable stuff covered with ethanol, light the end of the trail and hey presto, goodbye room.

I want to do that now

Chemistry lesson - Alcohols!.

anol means alcohol - this means they have an OH group in them (the most important group in the chain.


the prefix means how many carbons are in the longest chain.

Methanol - one carbon - you drink this stuff and you will die.
Ethanol - two carbons and our lovely friend that gets people drunk, makes water-insoluble drugs go into solutions and is a natural preservative at concentrations of higher than 60%. It kills bacteria! It's in those sanitising gels!

Now to get fancy
Propane-1 ,2,3-triol - Longest chain, 3 carbons with 3 OH groups. Also known as glycerin! That sweet stuff!
2 - (2-propyl)-5-methyl-cyclohexane-1-ol - Longest chain, 6 carbons in a cyclic structure. Also known as Menthol! That lovely stuff you put in cough lollies.

Therefore, that lovely stuff you like to drink is called ethanol, a type of alcohol, out of the many different types there are. Doesn't mean you can drink them all!

Just don't start drinking methylated spirits. That contains ethanol, but they put methanol in it to stop people drinking it!
