If there really is a god, why the hell would he care about us?

I think I saw this in a stand up act, but it more or less goes along the lines of:

When you're a little kid, and you do something stupid sometimes you do it for attention. When mummy and daddy yelled at you it validated your existence. You knew you were in trouble which meant you knew that next time you did something stupid, mummy and daddy would interrupt before you could kill yourself with the scissors.

As adults, we have no one to tell us "Stop doing that jimmy, you'll take some ones eyes out!" or "Thats disgusting jimmy, stop it please?" People have created this god thing just so that there is some one/thing that validates us.

Yeah, that is exactly why people created religion, but the fact of the matter is there is no God or rather, there is no proof that such a God or higher power exists. Humans just created the idea of a God and religion to try and give their life some meaning.
