The heavens opened at about 9 this morning in my area, and the first death has just been confirmed. Took me 5 hours to travel what is usually a 30 minute drive. Lots of kids are trapped in schools and all public transport has stopped.

So yeah. Sucks.

I didn't even know about this. Too much natural disasters, seriously.

Well the news is full of more important ones, like the Japanese tsunami and whatnot. It only just started, after all.

Thanks guyz. My house is about a zillion miles above sea level, so it should be okay, but we live on a hill. The surrounding towns (especially Jamberoo) have been virtually quarantined - the only two roads that lead to it are both totally flooded.

Well, I hope you don't get isolated, because that would be horrible! Stock up on tin food.

Despite the I love Mijy with my heart and soul being like OMG FLOOOOODZ it only lasted one day - mind you, we got 6 months worth of rainfall in 6 hours. But as far as I can tell there was only the one death, and the days following the floods have been scorching hot.
