Hello my lovelies

My brother has introduced me to an awesome online game called Minecraft.

It looks like old Mario style graphics, but it is in 3D. You use various bricks to build whatever you like.
You can also smash everything.
The servers themselves are massive and what you can build can be enormous.
The game is in alpha mode, meaning it has just come out and it still hasn't got full functionality.

This game is really fun to play with a group of people, working together to build or to smash!
It is a bit hard to explain what this game is exactly like until you see it for youself.

Once the game is fully functional, it is going to cost to play. I think Spectrum members should take advantage of it being a free game now and have some fun.

Some awesome things I have seen built:
A giant Pikachu
A space shuttle
Castles galore!

Build to enormous heights! Dig to the depths. Water, sponges, wood, bricks, lava, glass!

I think if we had a big group of Spectrum people playing, it would be so much fun.

The camera just flips out when I move it! I really want to play but it keeps messing up!

I have been playing when capped and it is fine.

You have to make sure you click on the game for it to work.

Matt, it is completely over the net

I click on it, then i can move the camera a tiny bit, then it spazzes out.

What do you mean spazzes?

the camera just moves really fast and goes all glitchy and I can't control it.

This server is great. It saves everything you build (unless someone knocks it down of course!)

But don't I have to download something first? Like a 6Mb download takes me two hours

Yeah it would be fun if while I was making my huge pirate ship miniman didn't come and delete the entire thing. That would be rather fun.

I think the thread is dead now.

But minecraft is still awesome... I was playing just then. Its changed a lot though now.

Btw, when giving yourself items when playing online, how do you add damage values?

at the moment i just type /give mijy 35 64
(35 is wool, adding damage values changes the colour)

A thing I find illogical in minecraft: Why do you need a shovel to make snow balls?
