Derr is right, birthdays are rather pointless, celebrating the day that we were born is rather silly, just like any other holiday or celebration, but its an excuse to have a party and get presents. Shallow... a birthday isn't shallow, but the name of this board was just originally chosen as a joke or pun because it is the exact opposite of deep and meaningful. Anyone who has been on this forum for long enough should know that. Me myself, I think shallow and pointless is a fine name as its certainly unique and creative.

No more Happy Birthday for you either.

ok well how about this... considering that they dont want their birthdays celebrated you could just say happy brithday DeMoN on their birthdays.. therefore i get thrice the amount of praise :3

a birthday is not simply a celebrating of the day you were born with an excuse to have a party and get presents...

it is a celebration of how long someone has been alive for, family and friends wish them well and all for the best for the future, it is a celebration of life, the greatest thing we have

celebrating the life of your friends and loved ones is far from pointless, you are rejoicing that they are alive and of the times they have spent and that you have had the pleasure of sharing in it, not pointless at all if you ask me

similar applies to a lot of holidays, maybe not all of them, but they often have a very good reason for people to rejoice about

Birthdays are a good thing to celebate, but I still see it is as something pointless, like many other holidays. Its really all just a bunch of excuses to have a party lol, but yeah, when its someone's birthday I don't really see it as something special, just another party like anything else really... It wouldn't make much of a difference for us if birthday celebrations didn't exist, we would still have parties... Hence why its pointless in the sense of its meaning.

since when was the point of a birthday celebration, to bring parties into our lives?
their point is to celebrate life, it doesn't matter how you do it or who with or whether there are any presents or not.
