What do you guys think? Will this be able to compete with Nintendo's 3DS?

Wow. Built in GPS!

I think this handheld is more for the serious gamer.

3DS is just something fun anyone can use.

I'll say my opinion about it.

Sony's approach with the first PSP with better graphics, couldn't out do Nintendo's innovation with dual screens and a touch screen.

And it ill be the same, this NGP has more power and better graphics, while Nintendo's 3DS has glasses-less 3D and a motion sensor.

Nintendo wins hands down in my opinion.

I can see your point matt, but I would still prefer this new PSP 2 over the new Nintendo 3DS because I don't really care much for 3D in games, that is nothing more than a gimmick to me. I'll keep my 3D viewing to movies, but I'm perfectly happy with keeping my gaming to 2 dimensions. Plus the PSP 2 has much higher specs, it will have better games and it has a built in gps.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Sony is known to give their gaming consoles high processing power.

We're expecting the 3DS to retail for about $350ish. The PSP 2 will most likely be double that, maybe $650, $700 mark.

People seem to have a misconception about the "Serious Gamer". Serious gamers enjoy games like Scribblenauts, Pokémon, and Dragon Quest. Sony seem to think that people actually want to play Uncharted and Killzone on a handheld but, the fact is, these are console games, intended for big TVs and surround sound systems. I'll keep my PS3 for the blockbusters, but they simply don't have the same effect on a handheld.

Nintendo realise that console-suitable games aren't always suited to ports onto a handheld. I don't want to play the latest FPS on a handheld, the same way as I don't want to play the latest charming RPG or puzzle game on a console. Some games are suitable on both, but for the better part, they're two totally different markets.

Keep the big screen and the fancy graphics. Nintendo innovate, Sony re-do. And the 3D isn't a selling point for me at all, it's just a nice bonus feature. It is amazing though - 3D without glasses. The only people who deny how amazing it is are Sony fanboys. Even if you don't like 3D, it's an amazing technological achievement.

This is the first portable game console I like. I'm not gonna get one, but if I had a bunch of spare cash I would consider.

They'll hack android or something on it and it will be a damn powerful tablet/game console.

Yeah, it's a cool portable little machine thingo. I just don't think it holds the same merits as the 3DS as a handheld.
