A whirlwind barb is designed to spin through your enemies cutting a clear path. Having the skills and items I recommend can help you with PvM but not Pvp so much. These barbs are tanks, they just keep spinning and spinning! The build you are about to read can clear hell chaos and baal, as well as (but not recommended) Uber.

Skill Point Distribution
Max:
-Whirlwind
-Shout
-Battle Orders
-Weapon Mastery (it your choice based on ur weapon but i go axe)
-Iron Skin (Max last)

1 Skill Point:
-Bash
-Leap
-Leap Attack
-Stun
-Concentrate
-Howl
-Battle Command
-Natural Res (Put enough points this skill so you have max res with your gear)

Stat Point Distribution
Strength - Enough for Equipment, no more
Dexterity - Enough for Equipment, which should only be for your Call to Arms
Vitality - Rest of Stat points, so pretty much all
Energy - None, never. Never ever on any character ever.

Equipment
All equipment is up to the user. Just because I recommend it, doesn't make it right for you. Use what you feel comfortable with and whatever works.
Whirlwind Barbarian Diablo2wwBarbInventory
Helmet - Arreat's Face (Um rune for added res or 40/15 Jewel)
Weapon - Ethereal Breath of the Dying Berserker Axe
Shield - Storm Shield (Um rune for added res or 40/15 Jewel)
Armor - Mage Plate Enigma
Belt - Verdungo's Hearty Cord
Gloves - Steelrend
Boots - Gore Riders
Rings - 2x Raven Frost (More attack rating is always accepted)
Amulet - Highlord's Wrath
Weapon/Shield Flip - 2x +3Wc Javs or 2x 3/3/3 Call to Arms
Charms - Barb Torch, Annihilus, Warcry GC's and +20 Life SC's are always nice.

Mercenary
This is completely up to you.
I recommend an Act 2 Nightmare Defensive (Cold Aura)
Helmet - Ethereal Insight (depending if you can sustain your mana while teleporting)
Weapon - Ethereal Vampire Gaze
Armor - Ethereal Fortitude

Here are some screen shots of my barb in action. Just keep on spinning.

It is currently level 92. I have really bad battle orders at the moment, so it can reach up to 6k if i get them.

Level...92..?

How...when...wha? How long does that take? I've been playing for hours and only got to lvl22ish. Then again, i'm only in act 3.

Ok, so your in act 3. Once you finish act 5, you get to start the game over again, only difference is, you have lower resistances (-50 in nightmare (1nd restart) and -100 in hell (2nd restart) and the monsters are all a lot stronger.

What you can do online, and I guess its cheating, but you can get "rushed". When you get rushed, you are any level, but normally around level 1. You get someone who is able to complete all the quests for you and get people to bump you into the next difficulty (because they would be in your party, since they finish the quest, you do too) (to finish the last quest in act 5 in normal = 25, nightmare = 40, hell = 60).

Once rushed, you get the most xp from doing Hell chaos runs no matter what level you are.

Other runs you can do to level up in normal are:
-Tristram (act 1) from level 1-12
-Tombs (act 2) from level 12-20
-Cows (act 1) (ill tell you how to do this later) from level 20-25
-Chaos (act 4) not needed but you can still do them if baal runs are too hard
-Baal (act 5) from level 25-40

Level 40 is about the time that you should go to nightmare since the monsters are quite hard. Doing runs requires you to create a game and clear whatever run you are doing then leave and start again. Despite being quite a repetitive process, it allows you to level up incredibly fast. Doing these runs is a lot easier in groups because you can help each other and you get more xp (since the enemies are harder).

Sounds like fun, but to be honest, I think I've done enough grinding in WoW.

Surprisingly enough, it doesnt take all that much grinding at all. getting to level 40 can take under a hour playing with friends.
