The way we will be debating will be different that a typical debate.
A topic will be chosen. Those who wish to be apart of the debate will need to sign up. Sign ups will start on Saturday and close at 6pm Sunday.
We need even teams. Get in quickly, because if we have uneven teams, the last person to sign up will unfortunately miss out.
When we have an even amount of people, they will be put into teams at random. You can not change teams.
You will either be in the AFFIRMATIVE team, who agree with the topic or the NEGATIVE team, who disagree with the topic.
The debate will start on Monday.
The debate will start with any person from the Affirmative team making a post stating the reasons why they agree with the topic.
A person from the Negative team then can rebutt and state their reasons why they disagree with the topic.
This goes back and forth until Friday at 6pm, where the winning team will be decided.

General rules
1. No one can double post.
2. An affirmative post must be followed with a negative post. If a team posts twice in a row, the second post will be deleted.
3. So people don't post at the same time, make a post saying "Shotgun". This means that no one will be able to post until you finish your post. After you have done this, go back and edit that shotgun post, writing what you want to add to the debate. I don't want to see the debate riddled with "Shotgun" posts everywhere. Keep the flow guys Very Happy
4. In rebuttal, you can not just say that you disagree with the other team. You must state WHY they are wrong.
5. Critisism of individuals is not allowed.
6. Visual texts are not allowed.
7. You may post more than once.
8. General comments and spam will be deleted.

Handy Hints
1. You have a whole week to debate the topic. Do not argue all your points at once or you might run out of things to say!
2. Remember, you are not trying to convince your case to the other team. You are trying to convince the adjudicator. Repeating points over and over will not help!

Winning
The adjudicator will decide which team has argued the best case.
They will also decide the best speaker of the week, regardless if they are on the winning/losing team.

Experience
Everyone who debated: +5 EXP
Winning team: +10 EXP
Best Speaker: +5 EXP

This is a great way of thinking about issues which may be different to your own beliefs and values. No matter what team you are on, make the most of it and have fun!
