This thread needs a update for 2014.
Nintendo Wifi Connection has been discontinued last month.
However, there's online network system for wii U and 3ds, which's called Nintendo Network.

I picked up Mario Kart 8 and a wii U last weekend and I got to say it's awesome game.

Mario Kart 8 does look pretty decent, but I don't have a Wii U. Don't really want one.

It's a lot of fun. I bought it the day it came out. The online actually works really well too...

I went out to test that glitch and I got to say it's quite useful on tracks with a lot of small ramps. I always prefer to use motorbikes in Mario Kart 8 then karts, so that glitch doesn't really apply to me.

There could be a chance, Nintendo will patch it just like how they did with shortcut glitch in Wuhu Mountain Loop in Mario Kart 7. A lot of people would rage quit if I try to do that glitch back in those days.
