There's nothing wrong with it, but I wouldn't dress up as Hitler and I wouldn't endorse it.

The holocaust will always be a sensitive issue, which is why i said that i wouldn't endorse the idea of dressing up as Hitler.

But to say that it is wrong to dress up as Hitler because of that, I don't think so. Just because its a sensitive issue and some people may be concerned about it doesn't make it wrong. Its just dressing up after all.

This really depends on what the word "wrong" means here, to me wrong is a very strong accusation and not something I would use to describe it. Possibly making a few people concerned doesn't count as "wrong" to me.

There is nothing incorrect about it and I don't see anything morally wrong with dressing up as Hitler.

I think it is extremely offensive. My family was ruined by what Hitler's regime did. Anyone who had family go through that or had strong ties to that don't want to be reminded of it.

I can understand that, but I don't really see it as offensive because the person dressing up isn't directly doing anything wrong or offensive by the sole act of dressing up.

I mean people could say that its just as bad to dress as the Grim Reaper or Osama Bin Laden...

Yeah, the grim reaper isn't real.

But you are dressing up, pretending to be someone else.

I remember hearing this story aaages ago on the radio.
Some kid had to dress up for a school event, dressing up as someone powerful in the world.
The parents let their kid dress up as Hitler. So he went to school dressed as Hitler but he got sent home or something along those lines.
Pretty sure that is what you are referring to Emilia.

Personally,i wouldnt dress up as him jsut because its morally wrong.
Because he isnt exactly a socially accepted by others, but i dont find it offensive personally, but for people like Emilia (no offence) its kinda fcuked.

tl;dr: I wouldnt do it as a respect thing for others.

For those that know me, I DO HAVE A HEART

The story that actually came to mind for me was when Prince Harry dressed up in a Nazi uniform. That got him in a lot of trouble.

I wouldn't dress up as hitler but if someone came to a party as him i wouldn't be offended. Saying that i can understand why it would hit a nerve with some people.

I can understand why Prince Harry came under fire for it, but I see no problem in it myself, even though my great uncle who died last year was an Auschwitz escapee and my entire family fled east Europe from Hitler.

I do understand that it is a thin-ice topic amongst many people for very valid reasons, and I can't really explain myself as to why I think it's totally okay to dress up as Hitler, but I honestly would not have a problem if someone did. That said, it is a fine, fine line to dress up as Hitler and be funny and dress up as Hitler and be totally offensive and wrong. Please don't make me go into more detail, I could be here for hours explaining the difference Razz
