I am tempted to get a new Facebook profile because my one doesn't work. The chat doesn't work. I can't get private messages. This has been happening for over two months.

What do you think I should do?

I'd try submitting a report, hopefully they'd get back in a somewhat timely manner.

Yeah, I already did, quite a few weeks ago.

I dont think Creating a new account would help so much, i know someone else who their chat wasnt working so they remade their account, they were annoyed to have to updated their new account with their photos etc. and when they wanted to use chat, after a couple of weeks it stopped working

I barely use facebook chat myself, itss far way to dodgy.

I'm not so fussed with photos and things.

The reason I use Facebook chat is because my uni friends use Facebook chat, so it is annoying that I can't send or receive messages.

There are 3rd party apps that can use facebook chat. Could use one of those when in a pinch.

I don't see how that would work, seeing as it is relaying messages from Facebook chat anyway.

Have you tried using different web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome Emily to see if the problem happens in all web browsers or just one.

Usually for me when I get a problem like that in some website, the website works fine in another web browser.

However, I don't know anything specifically about this particular problem as I hardly use Facebook, but what I can tell you is that creating a new account will most likely not fix the problem.

Hmmmm..... Over all facebook sucks, but is still better then myspace, it has issues, but your issues may be resolved by another account, the key thing to focus on is the private messages, you should recieve and email from facebook saying you get a message, if you get that message but cant access it, it is your browser IMO, if you get no message and they are telling the truth upon sending one, it is the account, or it may have been from someone you blocked... Also try clearing your cache

It is isn't a browser problem. I have tried it on Chrome, Firefox 4 and Rockmelt.

Cache cleared, still nothing.

Also, I can't receive private messages. So I have no idea if Facebook has contacted me.

Facebook just hates you Emily, nothing else... maybe you should make your own social networking site? and Call it "Spectrum Highway"

So I made a new Facebook and the chat is working (funny that)

I guess I will start adding people onto it, but I won't be deleting my old one though.

Edit: So I was adding people and it has blocked me for 2 days for "spamming" invites to people I actually knew. Help me out and please add me instead
