The ability to tongue rolling is an interesting one. It was once believed that it was inherited and a dominant trait. But a look at identical twins has found that in some twins, one can roll and one cannot. So it is still unclear how some people can roll their tongue and some can not.

I taught myself, when I was little. I got my finger and used my other hand to wrap my tongue around it, then I'd keep it there for ages till I could do it without my hands
